Loop Detector Systems

Dodds offers loop detectors that provide all the features and controls necessary for a wide variety of commercial overhead garage door and barrier gate opener/operator applications.

Pre-formed loops are available in two styles: pave-over style, which is used for new drive installations, and saw-cut style, used on existing drives. Both styles are available in customized loop sizes.

Motion Sensors

Allows uni- or bi-directional sensing, and the unique ability to open an overhead garage door when traffic is moving away from the sensor

An excellent alternative to loop detectors, the sensor can discriminate between pedestrians and vehicles.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
MOTORIZED VEHICULAR GARAGE DOORS ARE LIKE A MOVING WALL.
THEY CAN BE DANGEROUS & MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.

IF A GARAGE DOOR IS EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC CLOSING MECHANISM SUCH AS AN ELECTRIC OPENER/OPERATOR THEN A SAFETY SENSING DEVICE MUST BE INSTALLED.
THIS IS A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT ACCORDING TO CITY OF TORONTO BY-LAW#930-2000 41.a. (other cities have similar by-laws):
“if a garage door allows for vehicular ingress or egress from a parking or storage area, and is equipped with an automatic closing mechanism, the garage door shall be equipped with a sensing device that does not allow the door to close when any person, animal or object is crossing its path”

DUE TO RECENT ACCIDENTS IN THE INDUSTRY, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT A SAFETY PHOTO EYE SYSTEM BE INSTALLED ON THE INTERIOR OF THE DOOR, AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO DOOR IN ORDER TO REDUCE A “DEAD ZONE” AREA.
